iPhone Printing that’s convenient and simple
The PrintJinni iPhone Printing app, created by Thinxtream, is a utility that lets you print to many different printers directly from your iPhone. It’s a convenient fairly simple to use app that helps you print printers on the network you are connected to as well as windows or mac shared printers.
When you first load PrintJinni the home screen loads with several options to choose from on the main interface. MyDocuments is the first options. It lets you search for documents on your device so you can print them as needed. My Photos allows you to add any photos from your device to the my photos screen to become available for printing. The webpage printing section allows the user to search for any webpage and it converts to a pdf format for printing from any printer. This would be convenient for folks who want to read an article from a webpage in hard copy format or possibly save the pdf for emailing as an attachment. Why testing out the webpage printing function I noticed that the more complex a website was, the longer it took to convert and sometimes it didn’t convert at all. Sometimes it just took a few attempts so this leads me to believe it was more of a network traffic issue than it was the apps ability to convert the webpage to PDF format. The next section is the paste board where users can paste anything they have on the clipboard to the paste board for printing rather than having to create a document and then print the document. This is very convenient for people on the go who don’t have time to mess around with documents just to print out something they read online. This would also prove to be very convenient for taking notes. The Social Networks section allows users to use facebook, picasa, or flickr directly from printjinni. The Web Storage section gives users the ability to connect to their iDisk, Dropbox, or Box.net accounts
to give them the ability to directly print anything from any one of those accounts as well. This functionality is extremely convenient for people who travel because they can upload anything they might want to print to a service like dropbox and then connect to it later for printing at their hotel. Also from the main PrintJinni screen is the Buy Services section where users can renew their subscription for printjinni services. The subscription price is rather cheap when you compare it to other online subscription based services. You can subscribe for 50 days for $.99 cents, 150 days for $1.99, 250 days for $2.99, and 1 year for $3.99. If it was me I’d just go for the 1 year and then not worry about it for a year!
On the settings screen users can manage a few options such as page size, color or black and white printing, and print mode whether it is simplex or duplex. On the paper size option users can choose from letter, A4, A5, 5×7, 4×6, and 3.5×5. The settings screen is also where users can manage printers they would like to use on the network they are currently connected to.
Nice functionality, fairly easy to use, and great convenience make this app a winner
