Organidoc File Management App Is The Boss!

Too Many Functions To Love!

My task this week is to review the iPad App Organidoc by Wenjoy Technology Inc. Funny thing is I was supposed to review this app a few months ago and couldn’t because at the time I did NOT own an iPad. However after many failed attempts to justify the purchase of an iPad I finally succeeded. So lets get started. First of all let me just say that this app does so many things and does them well I don’t know where to start. So I guess I’ll just start at the beginning.

Documents, Photos, and Media Oh My!

Organidoc file manager my ipadWhen Organidoc loads you will be presented with the main screen.  The main screen has a menu on the left hand side with preview screen and a document viewer screen on the right.  The MyiPad section is where you can view documents, photos, and media (aka video) within the app.  You can connect to the OrganiDoc application from your home pc by tapping on the wifi icon and then connecting to the app through any pc browser by going to the URL the app gives you.  From there you can upload documents, pics, and videos right to the app very easily.  You can also play wmv or mpg videos with Organidoc as well. Organidoc converts them to mp3 or mp4 format playable by the iPad.  So it’s also a file converter as well.   I have also uploaded .mov files and they play just fine too.

To the Cloud…

organidoc cloud optionsOne of the cools ways to store files these days is in the cloud.  In fact it’s not only cool it’s sometimes a neccessity to use the cloud.  In fact I’ve stored plenty of iPhone App screen shots to my Dropbox account so I could copy them to my laptop, so I could upload them to my blog.  And whatta ya know but Organidoc is designed to connect to Dropbox.  How cool is that.  If you have a dropbox account then you are set to connect to dropbox from within the Organidoc application.  You can upload anything you want to Dropbox and transfer it to your iPad with Organidoc if you need to.  Organidoc also had ability to connect to GoogleDrive, MobileMe iDisk, Public iDisk, WebDAV Server, Box.net, Soonr, ASUS WebStorage, and SugarSync as well.  I currently only use Dropbox and have a google docs account so those are  the accounts I tested for the cloud storage functionality and both worked flawlessly and were easy to use.

Keep Your Documents Secure

organidoc secured filesOrganidoc has functionality that allows you to keep your documents protected from anyone who uses your iPad.  It’s pretty straightforward really.  Just set a passcode for the “Protected File” section and any folders or files contained inside of it are protected by passcode.  Keeping my documents secure was pretty easy and it worked exactly as you would exprect.

And Even More Functionality

organidoc amazing functionalitySomething else to note is that once you open a file in Organidoc, it gives you several functions that are extremely useful.   In the lower left hand corner is an arrow button that allows you to Save it to an Album within Organidoc, export it to iTunes, Email it with the email you have setup on the iPad, upload it to one of your cloud storage accounts, print it and also open it within any app, installed on your iPad, that the file would be compatible with.   For documents you can also rename the file, dynamically switch text encoding if needed, look at the file info, and print it to any connected printer. Seriously this thing does everything but cook you dinner! Got to love it!

Even more screen shots

I took so many screenshots while reviewing this app that I felt the need to include them at the end of this review. So check these out too as well.

 The Final Conclusion

Organidoc is a solid, well designed, and extremely useful iPad application.  All the things it does give the user so many ways to store and manage files that there isn’t one thing I would suggest it needs.  It’s complete and it even more than it says it does!  I would highly recommend this app to anyone looking for ways to manage files on their iPad and not think twice about it.

iPhone App Review Guy Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.

This is fantastic! It’s very functional, useful, well designed, and it looks good too. It’s well worth the $4.99 price tag. There is also an iPhone version available for $3.99 that most likely is just as good.
