Who Says It Can’t Be Played? iPhone Video Player Plays Them All!
An Alternative iphone video player is nothing new to the app store but video players that actually do what they say they will do are something new. In fact while I was testing it I was able to get it to play a .wmv and a .mov video without any trouble at all. But that’s just scratching the surface. According to their app store web page the ReplayerHD app will play the following video formats: mp4, avi, mpg, mpeg, asf, flv, mkv, m4v, mov, wmv, vob, swf, ts, tp, rmvb, divx, kg3, mts, and m2ts. It can also play audio file formats such as mp3, m4a, rm, wma, wav, ogg, and 3gp. This app brings it’s A-Game when you are talking about handling multitudes of video and audio formats that is for sure. Some of the formats in that list I haven’t even heard of before!
Subtitles, Thumbnails, and Wifi Transfers Oh My!
Not only does ReplayerHD give iPhone users the ability to play many different video formats it also handles subtitles very well for movies in other languages. In fact it will handle up to two different versions of subtitles for those videos that have more than one language or more than one set of subtitles. In addition to that users have the ability to choose from one subtitle set or the other and also enlarge and move subtitles to different areas of the viewing area. One of the cool features is the Thumbnails function. This function breaks up the video into a series of thumbnails which you can choose from and go directly to that section in the video. This is a very easy and convenient way to jump around a video with very little effort at all. One of the really nice and most useful features I like is the Wi-Fi Transfer screen. This screen tells you where to go on a standard web browser to be able to upload videos directly to you iPad to
be played by ReplayerHD. I was able to do this very easily and it worked perfectly every time. The one thing I did find funny was the fact that the PC image they chose was an original Macintosh rather than a more modern computer. I’m not sure if this was the intention, but it was a nice throwback tribute to the original Macintosh PC none the less.
Add a Bookmark or Send a video to a friend
If a user is enjoying watching a video and has to stop watching they can add a bookmark and come back to hit later. If they are really enjoying it they can also email it or send it by SMS right from within the application. These features just add to the usefulness and overall feeling that this application is a full featured and very well thought out video playing application. Users also have the ability to speed up the video for fast play to save time and move their way through any video quickly. Lastly and for some most importantly this app is FREE! So lets repeat that! It’s FREE and it’s really awesome! So therefore it’s a no-brainer for anyone looking to get their hands on a video player that plays a multitude of video formats and also gives users a full plateful of features. Users have everything to gain by getting this app and nothing to lose. This app is definitely a five star application. Bottom line is IT ROCKS!
