Yoga Free…Entry level yoga app at a great price
Yoga free 250 poses & yoga classes from Yoga.com is a nice entry level yoga app for the iPhone that gives the user a taste of what the full app is like at a great price NOTHING! Yep Yoga free is FREE! Makes sense since the word free is in the title but I figured I would make it clear for the slow minded out there. It’s free, it’s very nicely laid out, and in my opinion its geared towards women who want to get into yoga but aren’t ready to spend the money on the full app yet.
The Good Stuff about Yoga Free 250
When you enter into the app you are faced with a very nice entry screen that shows a beautiful woman dressed in white sitting crossed legged on a floor. Above her to the left is the “My Programs” icon and above her to the right is the “Pose Base” icon. The my programs icon takes the user to a screen where they can choose from quick recipe mode or fast mode. Quick recipe lets them choose from a previously created yoga “recipe” and “fast mode” lets them create their own recipe from the database of yoga poses available. This area is great because it lets the user get into a sample yoga workout or create one of their own. Perhaps there are yoga exercises that the user prefers to others they don’t. Below the girl there’s a navigation bar that has a Calendar icon, buy full icon, options icon, and a more icon. The calendar icon lets the user see how much time they’ve spend working out and what activity they were using at the time. It also greets the user with words of wisdom and other sayings they might enjoy. The buy full icon is the developers way of talking you into buying the full application. Personally I think this is a waste of application space but I suppose the developer didn’t have another option at the time so he went with this. The options menu is
just that, a menu full of options such as tap sounds, teacher’s voice, calendar stats, etc…The pose base does have a lot of yoga poses for users to look at and try at home. It’s very nice to have them, I’m not really sure if it’s 250 because I didn’t have the time to count them but there’s a lot and I’m sure anyone using this app is going to be happy with that. I’ll keep the developer on the honor system and trust that there are 250 there. If anyone wants to count them and let me know feel free.
The Bad Stuff about Yoga Free 250
Yoga Free 250 is pretty much a sales app. Sure there’ some functionality there but very little variety for anyone seriousl about doing yoga using their iPhone. However if you were serious about it not to worry because the makers of Yoga Free 250 have introduced “All In Yoga 300 poses”. I’m sure that being that it’s a full app and that it’s full of a lot more functionality helps just about anyone with the price tag. The other thing I didn’t care for was the Buy Full menu item. I think the developers could have found a more elegant way to put that in than the way they did. Otherwise its a nice little ap.
It’s a nice app but not a 5 star app. The app is a little limited in what it offers and the buy full icon needs to get moved to someplace else less obvious. It makes it seem like it’s just a commercial.
