5K Runner – Baby Steps Get You To 5K!

5K Runner

Training to Run a 5K? There’s an app for that!

I know this is going to surprise some people but I am not a runner!  I am not even really a workout type person at all.  Crazy to hear that I know but I have the feeling that I’m more in the “norm” than I am the exception.  However if you are like me and you want to get yourself ready to run a 5k then you may want to try out 5K Runner.  5k Runner is a training app that baby steps you through the process of training for a 5K run.  You still have to do the work but this app will get you there if you put in the time.  Let’s discuss….

Week 1 / Day 1

From the beginning you will know excatly how this training is going to go.  The app starts you out with a 5 minute warm up, then a 15 minute workout that is broke up into 1 minute run and 1.5 minute walk sessions done six times, and then a 5 minute cool down.  All totaled up you get a 20 minute first work out.

5K Runner Training AppWeek 8 / Day 3

By the time you hit week 8 day 3 you will be up to a 45 minute workout featuring a 5 minute warmup, 35 minute RUN, and 5 minute cool down.  Yes hard to believe but if you follow this program in 8 short weeks you should be running a 5K with ease.

Badges? We Don’t Need No Stinking Badges…Or Do We?

As you work through the program the app gives you even more motivation to keep going by way of “badges”.   For each major milestone there is a badge you can earn and even brag about on your facebook and twitter through the apps connection to both of those social media outlets.  This can be great because hopefully your friends will come through with an occasional kind work cheering you on to glory. The wins page allows you to display all your badges as well gives you buttons to share each badge with your friends.

Learning

There is also a learn section that provides the users with helpful tips, help with the app, settings, and a way to contact the apps developer. In the settings you can choose how you want to hear the coaching instructions, what type of voice you want to hear if it’s male or female, if you want a halfway notification, and a button to contact the apps developers with questions or comments.
