What The Spell by Romanatee Games is a fast paced word search game that is a welcome addition to the word game genre. It’s a fun game and it’d addicting two things that should spell success for the folks at Romanatee Games. Let’s Discuss…
Tutorials and Game Modes and Settings Oh My
One of the first things players notice when the main screen loads is it has a Tutorial. Have we ever mentioned what we think about tutorials? We LOVE ‘EM! We think every game should have it’s own tutorial. It’s common sense and it makes for a much better user experience. We can’t tell you the number of games we have played that didn’t have a tutorial that we have struggled with for the first few plays until we fully understood what was going on. It’s annoying to have to go through that when a simple tutorial would have helped. So the fact that WTS has a tutorial already puts it in the upper echelon in our book. However all tutorials aside it’s the game that’s most important. So next we have the game modes. WTS provides the user with 3 game modes including “Play Now” a single player mode that lets you get playing right away. It challenges users to play levels that last a certain amount of time and have a set goal in order to complete each level. Goals like spell three 3 letter words in a specific amount of time, spell five 4 letter words, etc…Did I mention there were bombs in this game. Oh yes bombs! The bombs are letters that have a timer associated with them. Don’t worry the bombs are easy to distinguish however do worry because you need to use the bombs before the timer runs out or they blow up! So use them in a word and there’s nothing to worry about. Once you get into the later levels there are goals like difuse 3, 4, 8, etc…number of bombs in a certain amount of time. So you’re spelling words and difusing bombs, it’s pretty exciting stuff don’t you think?
Secondly there is “Play with Friends” that lets you connect with other people who have the game and play together using the game center like a lot of other word apps on the market. This is cool because it keeps players in touch with your friends, drives competition and adds a new level of fun to the current game. The last mode is free play that is one mode that last three minutes. Players can see how many words they can find in three minutes and that’s it. The nice thing about this mode is it lets people play for a short period of time if they don’t have a ton of time to spend playing. It’s a quickie mode!
The settings of WTS are simple and to the point. Users can turn sound and music off and on and see the games credits. That’s it short and sweet. But it’s nice to be able to turn those things off if there’s a need be quiet while playing.
Fun levels, fast paced, and addictive. What more can you ask for? This game is great! And it looks good too! Go get it now!
