Njat iOS Game is Simply Fast Paced Fun

by

It’s like Asteroids and Snake has a child and called it Njat

Back in the 80’s arcade games were all the rage.  During that time somebody like me would go to an arcade and pump quarter after quarter into arcade games to be entertained.  The home systems were fun but not like they are today. You needed the arcade for the ultimate gaming experience. One such game was Asteroids.  You controlled a little triangle shaped spaceship in a vector graphic world of asteroids.  You started in the middle and tried to destroy all the asteroids and avoid getting hit by them as they passed you by again and again. You had the ability to move, go into hyperspace, and shoot. It was a huge hit game at the time.   Another game that wasn’t an 80’s arcade game but more of a early computer and later cell phone game was “Snake”.  Users controlled a small snake that traveled around the screen eating pellets. Each pellet made the snake bigger and bigger and harder to control.  You died in snake when your body crossed over itself  or went out of bounds.

Fast forward to today.  I installed the iOS game “Njat” on my phone not really knowing what to expect.  What I found was a fast paced game that had the feel of Asteroids and certain aspects of Snake, together in one package. You control this dot and you need to move the dot around the screen collecting gold coins. All the while you need to avoid hitting or getting hit by all the obstacles moving around the screen. It felt a bit like Asteroids in that sense and the gold coin collecting felt like snake. The only thing that didn’t happen was the dot didn’t grow larger as I moved around and ate coins.  If it did that then it would truly be something. However all kidding aside it was a fun, fast-paced, simple game that kept my attention and made me want to keep playing.

Njat is free and users can earn upgrades by collecting more gold coins. It also allows users to purchase more gold coins through in app purchase as well as earn them by watching promo videos from other app developers.  Overall it has all my favorite aspects of an iPhone game. It’s free, it’s fun, and it’s not too complicated to play. On a 5 point scale I give it a 3 out of 5. I would have given it 4 stars but the graphics are a little light and the upgrades of different interface colors seem kind of worthless. I would have upgrades that make a better playing experience and not just a better color for the background of the screen.  Plus the advertisements seemed a bit heavy handed to me.  Other that that it’s a great game! I would definitely recommend downloading it and checking it out. It’s definitely a fun game to play.
