Heroes Call – Diablo Style Freemium RPG

heroes call title screen

Anyone who’s into the video game Diablo would be right at home playing Heroes Call on the iPhone. You can create characters that fight up close and personal like knights or create magic using wizards that can attack their opponents with a variety of magical powers. Knights also have powers but they are more of a physical nature like charges, circular sword attacks and other attacks like that. The attacks are easy to trigger with the flick of a finger. Movements are simple it’s just a matter of touching the floor where you want your man to move and he moves there. Touch your enemies and your character attacks them. It’s so easy even my 6 year old has mastered it.

Plenty of Variety

heroes calls skills chooserHeroes calls gives users plenty of variety to keep them interested and busy.  There are over 30 levels of dungeons to crawl through filled with monsters such as goblins and giant spiders.  There are all kind of attacks like “Frenzy” which increases your attack speed and weapon damage.  There’s “Whirlwind” attacks all monsters around you and “Berzerk Charge” which charges an enemy doing 50% weapon damage.  All with their own animations and fun sound effects as well.

Freemium Style Game

heroes call freemium selectionsHeroes Call makes use of the “Freemium Platform” style game system.  Some game items you can earn in game without having to spend a dime.  However some game items require gems to pay for them and you can only earn so many gems at any time so if patience isn’t your greatest asset you might want to buy a few gems online through in game purchase.  You can also buy gold to buy things as well as identifying scrolls to identify weapons and armor that you find in the dungeons while fighting.  Packages range from $2.99 to $49.99 so they aren’t free but won’t break the bank either.  However I have played this game for a few weeks now and haven’t spent a cent and I’m having fun with it without buying anything extra.  So don’t let the fact that there are in game sale options keep you from downloading the game.

Great Looking Graphics

heroes call stunning graphicsOne of the things I like most about this game is the way it looks.  The top down, 3d style graphics are visually stunning and the gameplay is smooth as silk.  The in game monsters move swiftly and there is literally little to no choppiness at all on screen.  The lighting is subtle and there is great use of shadows, sound effects, and visual effects to keep any fan of dungeon crawling style apps engaged for quite some time.  And to top it all off it’s fun too!

iPhone App Review Guy Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Great game play and visuals make this a definite must have RPG for the iPhone! I enjoy playing this game and will keep doing so until i’m bored with it. Since i’m on level 5 and there’s 30 levels I think i’ll be busy for a while hehehe.
