Hello Cappuccino TitleRun a coffee show on your iPhone

Hello Cappuccino by KTH takes users into the coffee shop business just like Farmville takes them into the farming business.  Just like Tiny Chef takes users into the retaurant business.  If you like either of those games then you will also really get into Hello Cappuccino too.  Lets Discuss….

When Play Begins…

Users are given three tables, one barista, and one waitress with which to serve their demanding caffeine addicts as they come into the door.  Users get to start with a tutorial to teach them how to run the coffee shop as well as how to play the game itself.  I love tutorials because it just makes sense to help the users figure out what you are trying to have them do as soon and as quickly as possible.  I think anyone who writes a complex game should try to include a tutorial if possible. In fact I like them so much that I think they might need to be added to all games but that’s just my opinion.  But I digresss.  In the tutorial you are given several chapters to get through and each one has a series of goals to accomplish before you move onto the next one.  As it stands right now I’m still on tutorial Chapter 5 and i’m not sure how to get Coco’s glasses.   Hopefully someone out there who gets this game will be nice and let me in on the secret hahaha.  But I feel I’ve played enough to get an idea how to review this app so it’s all good.

Freemium Game Model

Hello Cappuccino iPhone GameJust like the games I mentioned at the start of this review, Hello Cappuccino uses a freemium game model.  What this means is the game is free to play but there are ways to advance your coffee shop along through in game purchases of things like Gold and Cocos.  Both of these are a form of in game currency. Game players can do more in game activities if they have more of them.  An example of this is expansion  Currently I need 1000 gold to expand my store.  I could play and wait until i have the 1000 gold or I could spend a couple dollars and buy gold and then expand the store.  Some people like to move fast on a game and those would probably be the ones that might want to spend the money.  Me i prefer to see how much I can get for free and then decide on making my purchases.  Either way it’s nothing that will break the bank unless you let it get away from you.  People with spending habits might want to avoid this or any game like it.  Parents with little kids might want to turn off in app purchases on their phone before giving this game to their little ones.  Gamers can also theme their cafe once theyhave earned enough gold and cocos to allow it.  Again this is where the people who want to move quicker might spend a few bucks and just buy the gold and cocos to move faster.  Players with some decorating flare might want to change the look and feel of their cafe’s as well.  You can do that through the games shop.  Users can buy tables, chairs, windows, doors, flooring, etc….If all this seems similar its because it is.  There’s nothing unique about Hello Cappuccino that hasn’t shown up in other games of this genre.  Each of them allows you to do most of the same things.  I think that users will choose to play one game over another based on what kind of simulation they want to play.  Want to farm then pick farmville, want to make food then pick Tiny Chef, but if you want to serve of hot steaming cups of digital Cappuccino then get to the app store and download Hello Cappuccino!

Social Gaming is Fun

Hello Cappuccino allows users to connect to other users through Facebook.  Users can also visit other players coffee shops and see how they are doing as well.    I haven’t tried this personally but I’m thinking that if someone is really into playing games like this it’s much more fun to do it socially and compete or compare others experiences.  Plus players who are braggers can share their successes on their Facebook page a well hahaha.  Just kidding braggers!

Great game my only complaint was sometimes the text on iPhone screen was so small it was hard to read. Otherwise this game is fun, addictive, and definitely worth a look. Check it out!

  1. This game is amazingly fantastic. No, I don’t work for the developers. I have just played plenty of this cafe-management-style game and so far, after about 36 hours, I am addicted. So many of the negative aspects of other games I have tried have been overcome in this one. Have a go! If you like this sort of game, you will LOVE Hello Cappuccino!

John, if you have a tablet or iPad, you can move your cafe between devices via your facebook account. You can transfer it back and forth as many times as you like – I put it on my tablet at home, then log in on my phone when I’m out and about (YES I was serious when I said I’m addicted!) I think if you put it on a larger screen, you will be able to see how to get the glasses. If not, post a comment on here and I’ll try to help!

    • Melby – Thanks for the tip. I never tried to move my cafe from one device to the other. That’s awesome. I will have to try that cuz those little letters are tiny! I thought this game was good too!

  3. John,

I need to mention, too, how fabulous their customer service is. I have contacted them with a problem and with some feedback, and both times they got back to me the same day. They seem very keen to please!

As yet, there is no official forum of FB page for the game. I have created an unofficial FB page for now – feel free to promote it: http://www.facebook.com/unofficialhellocappuccino. If you don’t mind, I will include a link to your review.

  4. Hey! I downloaded this app about 2 days ago, and just now started to play it! It’s absolutely adorable, and I think I’m hooked! :D Cooking/diner/cafe games are simply divine, aren’t they? By the way, I just finished “chapter 5″ of the tutorial, and “coco glasses” is the name of the glasses you can buy for the waiter/waitress. Just look for it under the “decorate” tabs and purchase it. That’s how you complete the goal. :D
