Freddi Fish and The Stolen Shell Steals the Show!

iPhone Kids Game or Not

freddi fish iphone kids gameiPhone App Review writing is a funny thing.  Sometimes you’re reviewing the latest hot new game from a big time software company, sometimes you’re reviewing an app from a one man shop, and sometimes you’re checking out an app for kids.  At least I thought that’s what it was.  But after playing it a few days I kind of think it’s both for kids and adults alike will enjoy this game.

It’s for Kids Because…

freddi fish gameIt’s characters are very cute.  Freddi the fish is a cut little yellow fish with a cute little cartoon voice.  His friend Luther is a little green fish that is smaller than Freddi and talks in an even higher voice that Freddi does.  The graphics are cartoony to say the least.  It’s a very colorful saturday morning cartoon kind of experience that any kids would love.  In fact anyone who likes cartoons would probably like this game.  The controls are easy to master.  To get Freddi and Luthor to move through the scenes of the game just touch the arrow cues and they will move to the next scene.  You can move them back and forth through all the scenes as many times as needed.

The basic idea of the game is the help them solve the case of the stolen shell.  There are clues along the way and items you need to pick up to help him.  You get to talk to several other characters in the game and they also provide you clues and tips along the way.  It’s a fun game but it can be a little tricky to figure out the mystery if you are a very young child playing this game for the first time.

It’s for Adults Because…..

It’s challenging to solve the puzzle.  You need to use a bit of logic, be observant, and listen well to the clues provided for you along the way.  Kids aren’t always good at these things so in this respect I think adults may like it.   Yeah it’s kind of child like and cute but if you like solving puzzles you might just enjoy a nice break from shooting, words with friends, and angry birds to help Freddi Fish out with his predicament.  Besides you can also get your kids involved for some quality video game bonding time.  At the very least you can show the little tykes how to play and you give them something to do for a few minutes and not have to worry about them seeing something inappropriate.

The Bottom line….

iPhone App Review Guy Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Freddi Fish and all of his friends get 4 stars. I enjoyed playing this and it looks terrific on my screen. I’m a little afraid my kids may not like the challenge of solving the puzzle but i have fun with it. So either way go check it out in the app store if it sounds like something you would enjoy.
