Fun and Educational App for Kids and Parents

Kids Planet Discovery is an educational app created by LA FACTORIA D’IMATGES, SERVEIS GRAFICS, SL designed to educate children about geography, nature, and cultures all across the planet while having fun playing games.

Functionality

kids planet discovery educational app

Kids Planet Discovery ran flawlessly when i tested it.  The app downloaded and ran right from the start.   Once the main screen loaded I noticed there were games that were pay to play.  However several of those games allowed users to try them for free.  The free trial worked as expected and allowed me to view most of the content of the app.  Lets Discuss…

Appearance

I really enjoyed the look and feel of this app.  Kids Planet Discovery was colorful, bright, and cheerful.  The main menu screen showed a globe surrounded by 9 other apps that together make up the entire app.  The apps are kids learning app travelUSA States, Memory, World Videos, Continents, Dress, Cultures Videos, Animals, Discover Africa, and Discover India.  The app really has a a fun look and feel.  There’s even a little one eyed alien looking guy on the globe wearing a safari hat.  Kind of looks like the the little green guy from Monsters Inc movie by Pixar if you ask me, but it’s not.  Also on the main screen were social icons that allowed users to share their experiences with several social networks and email addresses.  Even the loading screen has a little red one eyed monster that transitions the user from one screen to the next.  Kids will love that too.  Each of the apps main screens also has it’s own look and feel.  They are all similar in their design aspects but the colors and functionality is different for each.  Overall the app looks and sounds great!

Playability

As I stated earlier in the review, once the main screen loaded I noticed that there were 9 apps and only 1 of them was free with the app after it downloads.  All the rest of 99 cents each.  Users can buy all the apps at once for a discount of 50% off.  In order to let users get a look at the apps before they buy them, most of the apps come with a free trial.  It’s a nice touch and a great way to get people hooked on more content.

Several of the apps are setup in a form of the game memory.  Users must match two tiles to keep those tiles permanently flipped over and move on to the next set of tiles.   One of the apps is a dress up game.  Kids can match kids matching game appchoose clothing options for the main character of that came and change the look anytime they want to.  The Animals apps has several different games in one.  There’s a screen where kids can click on an animal and it will show the name of the animal.  There’s also a jigsaw puzzle users can put together in the shape of an animal.  There is also a cultures video section that lets users choose from video clips all over the world based on a map of the world.   Each time a user taps on a play button the app plays a new video.

Kids Planet Discovery also has several functions that were not offered as a trial app.   USA states a United States geography app, World Videos which shows videos from around the world, and Discover India.  Since there is a trial of Discover Africa it seems fair to assume that Discover India has a similar functionality to Discover Africa.  If you put together all the mini-games inside of each of these 9 games I can count about 100 games for kids to discover within the Kids Planet Discovery app.
